H2scan and Honeywell’s UOP Sign Agreement to Joint Market Low-Cost, High-Accuracy Hydrogen Analyzing Systems

Seven years of UOP field testing validates new 1700AS-U and 2700AS-U system’s ability to withstand contaminants while maintaining analyzer accuracy

VALENCIA, CA – December 16, 2010 – H2scan Corporation, provider of the most accurate, tolerant and affordable hydrogen leak detection and process gas monitoring solutions for industrial markets, today announced that their core sensor technology will be combined with UOP’s process system knowledge to jointly market advanced analyzers for applications within refineries and petrochemical plants. The new 1700AS-U and 2700AS-U process systems represent over seven years of collaboration, field testing and validation by UOP to increase the accuracy of their solutions to better compete with Gas Chromatograph (GC) and Mass Spectrometer (MS) technology, and better serve their customers.

“This agreement with UOP is a significant milestone for H2scan further validating the quality and appeal of our core sensor technology,” said H2scan’s President & CEO, Dennis Reid. “We are confident our combined expertise will advance oil and gas analyzing technologies while addressing cost concerns of refineries facing rising crude prices.”

H2scan will manufacture the new systems incorporating UOP technology in its new Valencia, California facility. Both companies will market the solution providing greater reach and access to a larger customer base which will finally benefit from having solid state analyzers that withstand contaminants, maintain a high degree of accuracy and have longer times between calibration intervals – all at a fraction of the cost of process GC and MS technologies.

“We are pleased to work with H2scan. The depth of UOP’s process system knowledge coupled with H2scan’s sensor expertise and manufacturing capability will enable us to deliver the most innovative and comprehensive solutions to market,” said UOP’s Senior Manager of Strategic Alliances, Mark Baker.

The new systems will be commercially available later this year. For further product information, please email h2info@h2scan.com or call 661-775-9575. To be added to H2scan's corporate e-mail list, please send an email to h2info@h2scan.com.

About H2scan Corporation (www.h2scan.com)

H2scan was founded in 2002 and has its headquarters, sales, production and marketing staff in Valencia, California. The company provides the most accurate, tolerant and affordable hydrogen leak detection and process gas monitoring solutions for industrial markets enabling accurate monitoring and control functions for a wide range of applications, including control systems, safety monitoring and alarm systems. H2scan also provides portable, handheld configurations for easy leak detection and monitoring.

H2scan's hydrogen specific sensing systems based on a patented "Chip on a flex" technology are able to detect and measure hydrogen without false readings or expensive support equipment required. This makes it ideal for the NeSSI™ platform. H2scan’s process systems have the ability to operate in real-time, with or without the presence of oxygen, no interference from CO or H2S, separating H2scan from all other in-line measuring technologies. The leak detector sensing systems are able to detect hydrogen in air down to 15 ppm concentration without cross-sensitivities to other gases.

The company’s solid-state technology was originated at Sandia National Laboratory and the U.S. Department of Energy and is only available commercially through H2scan. H2scan’s products are sold in over 50 countries worldwide.

H2scan Corporation was formed with capital assistance from the Ravinia Venture Fund and Vancouver-based Chrysalix Energy Limited Partnership that includes Ballard Power Systems Inc., Shell Hydrogen, The BOC Group, BASF Venture Capital and Mitsubishi Corporation.
