H2scan senior management includes the following members. Together they oversee a team with advanced degrees in technology-related disciplines, hydrogen sensor technical expertise, extensive hands-on development experience, and access to key resources such as Sandia National Laboratories.
Dave brings a broad range of strategic, operational, sales and technology development experience to H2scan. He joined H2scan as the Chief Operating Officer, and previously he worked for Altran, a global engineering services company, where he held roles as COO of North America, Senior VP of Corporate Development, and as General Manager running product development business units serving the industrial, energy, medical, aerospace and automotive industries.
Prior to Altran he held various executive, sales and development roles at both large companies and startups. As the COO of a startup, he ran operations, built its global sales organization and was responsible for technology licensing and strategic partnerships. He also developed significant experience in the sensor market developing MEMS and high-performance inertial sensors for aerospace and industrial applications.
He has a Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering from the University of Delaware where he is a distinguished alumnus.
André Marais joined H2scan team as Executive Vice President of Sales. André is an accomplished B2B sales and commercial operations leader with broad functional experience, including managing and vice president roles at Eskom, Global Engineering Solutions, Symmetricom, ABB, AMETEK, and Qualitrol.
He holds a Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering from the University of the Witwatersrand and a Diploma in Technology Management from Eskom College.
Leon brings over 25 years of utility and sales experience including an extensive background in electric substations and online transformer monitoring. While at Ameren, he held various positions including substation design, transmission regulatory and real time power trading.
He brings a proven track record of achieving leading results in sales growth at GE and Qualitrol where he was responsible for a wide range of substation and transformer monitoring products. He is a Professional Engineer and a member of the IEEE Power and Energy Society. He received his Electrical Engineering and MBA degrees from Southern Illinois University at Edwardsville.
Michael has over 35 years of senior executive experience in many different industries including industrial, manufacturing, oil & gas production and operations, oil & gas equipment and service, alternative energy, and high technology. He’s responsible for sales, business development, marketing, and corporate and business strategies.
France joined H2scan in 2023 as Vice President of Marketing and Product Management, bringing extensive experience including bringing new products and technology to market and integrating acquisitions.
France recently worked for Teledyne Instruments, where she held executive sales and marketing roles, most recently as Director of Technical Services overseeing industrial, semiconductor and environmental gas markets. Prior to Teledyne, France was a Product Marketing Manager at AMETEK and Luxfer.
She holds an Instrumentation and Measurement degree from the Université Louis Pasteur in France, a B.Sc in Engineering Physics and a Ph.D (ABD) in Inorganic Chemistry both from Sheffield Hallam University, UK.
John joined H2scan in 2023 as Vice President of Engineering. With over 20 years of experience, John is an accomplished engineering professional with success in developing and leading multi-disciplined engineering project teams. John has an insatiable passion for customer experience, product development and industrial design.
Prior to H2scan, John was Director of Product Engineering and Manufacturing at the Kromek Group and Director of Engineering at MSA – The Safety Company / General Monitors. John earned his BSME and MSIE at the University of Pittsburgh and his MBA at Duquesne University.
Matt Smith is the Director of Operations at H2scan and an aerospace and industrial professional with more than 15 years of experience in manufacturing. Before becoming Director of Operations at H2scan, Matt held the title of Manager of Quality and Manufacturing Systems at the company.
Before H2scan, Matt was a Product Portfolio Manager at Kapco Global and Change Implementation Specialist at HITCO Carbon Composites. He has a B.S. in Aviation Technology from LeTourneau University. Matt is an expert in ERP, PLM and Custom Software Implementation, as well as Configuration and Change Management. He has also completed his CMII Comprehensive Certification (CMIIC) and possesses a Six Sigma Green Belt.
Jeff Donato is the Sales Director-Safety Products at H2scan. Jeff Donato has over 28 years of sales and management experience in the industrial battery industry, representing safety and compliance products in the datacenter, utility, and telecommunications applications. Jeff is an active member of the IEEE Power & Energy Society and is the current chair of working group 1578 in the Energy Storage and Stationary Battery Committee (ESSB). Jeff is also a member of several other IEEE working groups including alternative energy storage technologies and the nuclear working group. He has presented standby power system Environmental Health & Safety training to engineering, architect and OEM manufacturing firms and delivered solutions training to end users and specifying engineers.

From investors and lawyers to professors at top technical institutes, the Company has surrounded itself with a strong Board that complements the skills of the current management team.
Tim Summers is the Managing Partner of L1 New Energy. Prior to joining LetterOne, Tim has over 30 years of experience including multiple Chair, Board and Executive roles in manufacturing, engineering services and the energy sector in a variety of public and privately-owned businesses. He has lived and worked in South America, the Middle East and Russia, as well as in continental Europe.
Tim is a Chartered Engineer and a Fellow of both the Institute of Chemical Engineers and the Institute of Materials, Minerals and Mining. He has a degree in Chemical Engineering from the University of Manchester.
Michael is an accomplished CEO and Chairman with a highly successful career growing, restructuring, and optimizing business strategy and operations in the corporate world. Since 1998, Allman has held a number of leadership positions with Sempra Energy, a Fortune 300 energy services holding company in San Diego, CA.
In his most recent position as Chairman, President and CEO of Southern California Gas Company, the largest natural gas distribution company in the United States, he achieved record profits that exceeded targets each year and drove the company to a #1 ranking in customer service.
John is a growth capital investor, investing in high-growth private companies in the energy sector with a specific focus on operational and digital technology. He is a founding member of Energy Growth Momentum and holds several non-executive roles in operating companies. Prior to EGM, John worked at Piper Sandler (Simmons), Lime Rock Partners and First Reserve.
He holds a MA Joint Honors in Economics and International Relations and a Corporate Finance Qualification from ICAEW and CISI. He has previously served on the boards of UTEC International; Grupa Duon S.A; and, Sensient Incorporated, all of whom successfully scaled and were then acquired by large corporates.
