VALENCIA, CA – November 12, 2008 — H2scan Corporation today announced the Company will exhibit at the 2nd China International Hydrogen & Fuel Cell Expo in Shanghai, China, November 18 – 20, 2008. The Company’s booth will be located in the U.S. Pavilion and will feature its state-of-the-art hydrogen specific, solid-state sensors. Among them, they will demonstrate the HY-ALERTA™ 500 Handheld Hydrogen Leak Detector, HY-ALERTA™ 600 Fixed Area Monitor and the HY-OPTIMA™ 700 In-line Process Hydrogen Monitor.
Prabhu Soundarrajan, H2scan’s Chief Scientist and Director of Strategic Applications Development will be presenting a paper on “Hydrogen Specific Sensing Systems for Industrial Applications.” The paper will focus on the relevance of the company’s sensors in hydrogen, fuel cell and industrial manufacturing.
Mr. Soundarrajan stated, “Accurate monitoring of hydrogen in industrial facilities are critical for safety and cost savings in the developing “clean fuel” economy based on hydrogen. Most hydrogen detection technologies including LEL sensors require the presence of oxygen to measure hydrogen, while H2scan’s hydrogen specific sensors can operate efficiently in a wide variety of gas backgrounds without cross-contamination or false alarms. H2scan’s technology can be easily used to trace the source of a percent level hydrogen leak and for hydrogen process control applications in a hydrogen fuelling station, hydrogen production facility, refineries, industrial manufacturing, chemical plants and in fuel cells.”
The 2nd China International Hydrogen & Fuel Cell Expo is one of the largest hydrogen-related shows in China and will feature global experts and professionals from the fuel cell, energy, petroleum and gas industries. The expo is being sponsored by such companies as GM, Linde Gas, UTC Power, BMW, Shell and many others.
H2scan’s Vice President of Sales and Business Development Cyril Berg stated, “The 2nd China International Hydrogen & Fuel Cell Expo is an excellent opportunity for us to further expand our business into the ever bourgeoning Chinese hydrogen and fuel cell market. We will also be announcing the development and future release of a new hydrogen sensing unit that targets low range hydrogen ppm leaks common in hydrogen and fuel cell industrial processes.”
Mr. Berg went on to say, “China’s large population and continually growing economy make this the perfect venue to display our hydrogen specific sensing products. Since we’ve had great success selling our HY-OPTIMA™ 700 series to one of the largest fuel cell developers, we are confident the expo will lead to future business growth. It is also very important to us to support and continually develop our partnership with our Chinese distributor, York Technologies, Ltd.”
H2scan’s HY-ALERTA 500 Handheld Hydrogen Leak Detector is the industry’s most versatile, portable hydrogen leak detector, able to respond to the widest range of hydrogen gas concentrations without the need of expensive peripheral equipment. The sensor probe has a unique visual LED array that will effectively help navigate to the source of a hydrogen leak where hydrogen gas is produced, used, transported or stored.
Chen Ming, Managing Director of York Technologies stated, “We are very pleased to work closely with H2scan and feel our knowledge of the Chinese market and their expertise in hydrogen sensing technologies will complement our current product range. This partnership will be mutually beneficial to us both and I am excited about exhibiting together at the expo.”
The HY-OPTIMA 700 series, including the 730 and 740, with its cost-effective integration, is ideal for hydrogen/fuel cell production, petroleum refineries and petrochemical applications where real-time measurements can enhance plant efficiency. The system, which is calibrated on-site, offers plants in-line, real-time measurements for fuel cell manufacturers and hydrogen refueling stations.

About H2scan (www.h2scan.com)
H2scan is the leading provider of high performance hydrogen specific sensor systems that provide accurate monitoring and control functions for a wide range of applications, including control systems, safety monitoring and alarm systems. H2scan also provides portable, handheld configurations for easy leak detection and monitoring.
H2scan’s hydrogen specific sensing systems based on a patented “Chip on a flex” technology are able to detect and measure hydrogen without false readings or expensive support equipment required. The sensing systems are able to detect hydrogen in air down to 15 ppm concentration over a wide range of temperatures without cross-sensitivities to other gases. The ability to operate with or without the presence of oxygen with no interference from CO, sulfur or chlorine separates H2scan from all other in-line measuring technologies.
The company’s solid-state technology was developed at Sandia National Laboratory and the U.S. Department of Energy and is only available commercially through H2scan. H2scan Corporation is headquartered in Valencia, California, and was formed in 2002 with capital assistance from the Ravinia Venture Fund and Vancouver-based Chrysalix Energy Limited Partnership, that includes Ballard Power Systems Inc., Shell Hydrogen, The BOC Group, BASF Venture Capital and Mitsubishi Corporation.
