California Sets Hydrogen Pipeline Safety Rules. In September, Governor Gavin Newsom signed the Hydrogen Pipeline Safety Law. The law requires dedicated hydrogen pipelines to minimize leakage, use materials that resist embrittlement and continuously monitor for abnormal conditions in real time. Hydrogen-specific analyzers like the HY-OPTIMA® 5330 IS give pipeline operators accurate readings in hazardous locations. Read more.
Battery Storage Failures Fall 98%, but Indoor Systems Lag. EPRI reports that global failures of lithium-ion battery energy storage systems per deployed GWh fell 98% between 2018 and 2025. EPRI found that indoor facilities are overrepresented in failure incidents and it recommends safety reviews and retrofits for early-vintage systems. Read more.

New HY-GUARD RS® and HY-SIGHT™ for Lithium-Ion Battery Safety and Visibility
H2scan has expanded its battery safety portfolio into lithium-ion battery applications. HY-GUARD RS monitors hydrogen off-gassing in battery rooms and energy storage containers. Its response time of <10 seconds catches off-gassing early, so ventilation can be triggered before hydrogen hazards escalate. HY-SIGHT is an optional touch-screen display unit. It shows real-time status for up to four HY-GUARD series monitors and manages them. Read More.

We love meeting customers at industry events around the globe. We learn about their challenges and offer solutions engineered according to their needs.

Thank You — October 19–21, Hydrogen Technology Expo Europe
Hamburg, Germany
Thank you for visiting us at Hydrogen Technology Expo Europe. We felt energized by the strong interest in our hydrogen sensing technology and by our collaboration with our partners at Angst+Pfister. Together, we showcased how reliable, maintenance-free hydrogen sensors make process and energy storage applications safer and more cost-efficient. If we didn’t get a chance to connect, email [email protected].
Coming Up — November 4–5: NiBS Battery Conference
Shropshire, England
We’ll be at the annual Northern Industrial Battery Services Battery Conference. Meet with us to discuss hydrogen detection for battery safety systems. H2scan’s self-calibrating, maintenance-free monitors reduce false alarms, integrate with ventilation controls and deliver long service life.
Coming Up — November 16–19, RE+
Las Vegas | Booth #W17132
As utilities add energy storage to their networks, the need to protect those assets has never been greater. At RE+, November 16 – 19 in Las Vegas, we will showcase battery off-gas monitoring technology that is more accurate and responds earlier. Stop by to learn how to protect every battery type, including lithium-ion.
The Future of Energy Depends on Knowing What’s Happening Before It Becomes a Problem
H2scan provides advanced hydrogen technology solutions that deliver early visibility into developing issues by helping operators make informed decisions, improve efficiency, prevent failures, reduce costly disruptions and drive proactive risk mitigation.
H2scan is more than a technology provider. We are a trusted partner helping operators stay three steps ahead of failure–protecting personnel, strengthening infrastructure and supporting a safer and more reliable energy future.
Founded in Valencia, California in 2002, with technology rooted in U.S. Sandia National Laboratories, H2scan has earned the trust of utilities and global manufacturers across critical infrastructure worldwide, as they face greater demands for safety, reliability and uptime.
