From Actionable Off-Gas Detection to Rapid Isolation & Response

Wednesday, October 7, 1–2 pm ET | LinkedIn Live

See how H2scan brings faster hydrogen detection and on-site visibility to lithium-ion battery rooms and energy storage containers. We’ll cover the path from the first off-gas signal to ventilation, isolation and response. Get a first look at HY-GUARD® RS and HY-SIGHT™ in action. Register.

Product Announcement

New HY-GUARD RS and HY-SIGHT for Lithium-Ion Battery Safety and Visibility

H2scan has expanded its battery safety portfolio into lithium-ion battery applications. HY-GUARD RS monitors hydrogen off-gassing in battery rooms and energy storage containers. Its response time of <10 seconds catches off-gassing early, so ventilation can be triggered before conditions escalate. HY-SIGHT is an optional display unit. It shows real-time status for up to four HY-GUARD series monitors and manages them. Read release.

Energy News Update

Data Center Boom Collides with Equipment Shortages.

Data center growth is still strong, but projects are running into labor shortages, supply constraints and local opposition. For example, customers typically must wait two to three years for power transformers. Relief is not expected before 2027, when significant new U.S. manufacturing capacity comes online.

To avoid replacing transformers already on the data center campus, operators should deploy continuous DGA monitoring, which flags incipient faults before a failure takes a unit out of service.

New York Makes Its First Bulk Battery Storage Awards.

New York State Energy Research and Development Authority announced its first bulk energy storage awards. Awards went to 950 MW of lithium-ion batteries with durations of four to eight hours. The projects will more than double the utility-scale storage in New York to date.

As lithium-ion installations grow in size and number, detecting hydrogen off-gassing is critical for safety. Self-calibrating hydrogen monitors like the HY-GUARD RS are specifically designed for these applications.

Batteries Carried California Through Its Hottest August.

California made it through the hottest August on record without rolling outages, and the state has not issued a Flex Alert since 2022. Officials give much of the credit to storage. The state’s battery capacity has grown from under 700 MW in 2019 to more than 21,000 MW today.

Now that batteries are critical grid assets, operators need to educate themselves about battery safety. New HY-GUARD RS hydrogen monitors paired with HY-SIGHT display units give faster response and greater visibility.

H2scan on the Road

We love meeting customers at industry events around the globe. We learn about their challenges and offer solutions engineered according to customer needs. Our mission is to help our customers advance hydrogen safety, monitor the health of critical equipment such as transformers and supply solutions for monitoring battery energy storage.

Thank You, SMRP — September 28–October 1, Raleigh, North Carolina

Thank you to everyone who visited Booth 1131 at the SMRP Annual Conference. We had great conversations with maintenance and reliability professionals about DGA strategies, battery room safety and NFPA 70B compliance timelines. If we didn’t get a chance to connect, email [email protected] and we’ll pick up the conversation.

Coming Up — October 20–22: Hydrogen Technology Expo Europe, Hamburg, Germany | Stand 7C41

Join us at Europe’s largest hydrogen event, which showcases solutions in low-carbon hydrogen production, storage, transport and fuel cell applications. Visit stand 7C41 to see how H2scan’s solid-state hydrogen sensors support process optimization and leak detection across the hydrogen value chain. Visit event website.

Coming Up — November 4–5: NiBS Battery Conference, Shropshire, England

We’ll be at the annual Northern Industrial Battery Services Battery Ltd. Conference. Meet with us to discuss hydrogen detection for battery safety systems. H2scan’s self-calibrating, maintenance-free monitors reduce false alarms, integrate with ventilation controls and deliver long service life.
